Missing Shelly Moore Capito – WV Citizen Action and WV Patriots for Peace are launching a District-Wide Campaign aimed at 2nd District Rep Shelley Capito’s refusal to hold a public discussion on Iraq. The “Missing Person” Poster Campaign is a tongue-in-cheek method to educate voters concerning Capito’s refusal to meet with citizens to discuss her support for the continuation of the war in Iraq. Posters are being hung in supermarkets and public spaces here in Charleston, in Martinsburg, and in between.  If she is your representative we need you to post the “Missing” poster and run an ad in your local paper (WV CAG 1 (866) 982-3247 will provide a copy for a newspaper ad)

Scott Ritter –  Seneca 2 is sponsoring Scott Ritter, a former UNSCOM arms inspector in Iraq, to speak at West Virginia State University (WVSU) in Institute, WV on Thursday Oct. 25th. Ritter was an intelligence officer in the Marine Corps for twelve years, and served as the lead analyst for the Marine Corps Rapid Deployment Force concerning the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the Iran-Iraq War.  During Desert Storm, he served as a ballistic missile advisor to General Norman Schwarzkopf. He later worked as a security and military consultant for the Fox News network.
Ritter is a well known author and outspoken critic of the Bush Administration and the war in Iraq. A recognized TV personality, Ritter frequently appears on forums concerning government policies – particularly those of the Clinton-Bush years. Ritter is a regular contributor to the print media and has authored six books.  His last two are:  Waging Peace: The Art of War for the Antiwar Movement (2007), and Iraq Confidential: The Untold Story of the Intelligence Conspiracy to Undermine the UN and Overthrow Saddam Hussein(2005) His talk begins at 7:00 PM at WVSU Student Union.  West Virginia State is in Institute 15 minutes west of Charleston on I-64.  All are welcome to attend.  If you live in the area, please post the poster.

Anti Iraq War Petitions: The statewide petition drive to end the Iraq War presently has 800 signatures.  Petitions will be delivered to all of West Virginia’s Congress members and Senators.   Most people were very enthusiastic to sign the petitions. We will also contact signers asking them to join the contact lists of WV Citizen Action Group and Patriots for Peace.

Next to US Route 50 east of Parkersburg this powerful memorial to the US casualties is a reminder of the sad consequences of this war.
